Where to rent small houseboats, or smaller houseboat rentals?

I'm looking for some small houseboat rentals, and wondering if there is any smaller house boats to rent?


The internet has too much information or nothing specific, at least for what I'm looking for. Are there any SMALLER houseboats for rent east of the Mississippi, in the 32'-38' range?

All I seem to find are luxury mammoths. My interest lies in lazy cruising at lower speeds in a HOUSEBOAT, not a palace.

Well Waldo, welcome to the houseboat forums, and sorry to hear about your futile attempts to find some smaller houseboat rentals.

I personally have seen some of the rental houseboat companies renting out houseboats in the 35 - 45 foot range. I also agree that the market is more geared towards the large family vacation type renting.

Off the top of my head, I don't have a link for you, but I am sure that some of our readers will be able to recommend some locations or places where to start your search.

I will have to agree with some comments I have read. There seems to be a lot of information except for the information needed most. Does no one know exactly where there are small houseboats for rent for retirees? Are there no houseboats for rent except the VRBO? I am sure there should be a market for those of us that are just looking to find new experiences and find those" senior retiree houseboat communities ". Any information to find those actual houseboat rentals for seniors would be appreciated. As people should know we seniors don't have a lot of time to be chasing our tails so to speak or wasting what time we have left. Thank you.

I too would like to rent a houseboat which is .... oh my many small thoughts but I am only one girl with a well traveled Schnauzer.

I want to experience a houseboat living and like the idea of mobility within the restrictions of the owner.

I live on a chain of lakes currently and a victim of divorce....Giggling. I am 52 yo and want to empty my bucket list. I have raised and cared for my whole life.

I am ready to empty my bucket list. Please advise.

Just returned from a wonderful "Brandenburg" Toern around Berlin, highly recommended with "BunBo". Check out 5 comfortable lay-outs, even wheelchair accommodating.

Wow, flights from BWI to SXF Berlin are very reasonable .

Check out houseboat rentals on the Rideau Canal in Ontario Canada. We are headed that way this summer and it looks like fun. They are small, suited to the canal and one can cruise from Kingston on Lake Ontario to Ottawa.

Try Midlakes on the Erie Canal. Small canal boats. Great company. You travel from small canal town to town. We had a blast on our 34 footer.

Comments on renting smaller houseboats did not include weekly cost. I would be very interested in knowing the cost in the US versus Ontario, Canada. Also some information on quieter marinas or areas.

Jamestown Marina has the BEST prices on Lake Cumberland for small houseboats. My small working-class family has been able to have a wonderful (lazy-man river) type of vacation for years on Cumberland because of these boats.

They're called Delux boats - check it out, you will find it perfectly accommodating for what you're looking for. And it's located in the biggest part of the lake - TONS of awesome little coves and very friendly staff too!

Egan Houseboats is in Ontario on the Trent-Severn waterway. They rent 32 and 40 footers. My wife and I have rented the 40 footers, just the 2 of us and found them a delight to handle with just 2 people.

We went to Timber Bay Houseboats in Babbit Minnesota. Loved it! Also Bull Shoals Houseboats in Arkansas. This was a bigger boat but very affordable! Hope this helps!!
