Best houseboats to travel the Great Loop?
The best houseboats to travel the Great Loop, do I get a planing, semi displacement, or a trawler? That's a question that gets discussed often.
I'm thinking of doing the great loop in the next few years. What is the best house boat in your opinion? I was looking at the 52 Bluewater, or another type of Pilot House. I am not a fan of a trawler (slow and large draft in my opinion).
Thanks Jim.
Reply - AnswerWell Jim, congratulations on your decision to do the Great Loop, it should be an unforgettable, and possibly a life changing experience.
As to what houseboat that I think is the best to travel the loop, hmmm, there is definitely some models that would get my vote. I think your choice of a Bluewater or a Pilot House model are good and sound choices.
You could also consider a Harbor Master, a Pluckebaum, a Carri Craft catamaran, or even a Gibson would be suitable if you kept an eye on the weather forecast.
