Need insurance for houseboat kept on the ICW

Need houseboat insurance for a 38 ft house boat on the ICW.
Need help finding insurance for a 38 ft houseboat kept in Myrtle Beach on the ICW. Everyone we've contact won't write it because it is over 35 ft, or because it's used on the ICW.
The goofy agent at United Marine told me that houseboats were only made to be used on Lakes. He was very rude and I wouldn't recommend this group in the future to any of my clients.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Captain Dee.
Reply - AnswerWell Captain Dee, sorry to hear about your difficulty in obtaining houseboat insurance. Unfortunately you didn't mention in your post the age of the houseboat.
As you are likely aware, most house boat insurance companies will probably want to see a current satisfactory marine survey before issuing a policy. I presume that you have this available.
I know that some insurance companies are hesitant to issue policies to houseboaters, so you may have to contact multiple companies until you find the right one.
If you'd like a list of names to contact, have a look at our
houseboat insurance page. You can get a free insurance quote and I am sure with a little perseverance you'll find a suitable insurer. :)
You may also be interested to use our search function, and type in the keyword "insurance" to find other articles of people who were in the same predicament. This way you will be able to follow those posts.
Lastly, hopefully some of our readers will share and post comments about their houseboat insurance experiences. Feel free to use the "Click here to post comments." link found near the bottom of this page.
