Lake Erie Houseboating - restoring a houseboat on the shores of Lake Erie, NY, USA
Pacemaker Houseboat - houseboating on the shores of Lake Erie, NY
This is not your typical answer, but we love the shores of Lake Erie. We are not houseboaters in the usual fashion. Two years ago we bought a 1970 Pacemaker houseboat that had been sitting idle at an old marina. We totally restored the boat and are now using it as a summer cottage on land.
The marina moved the boat to the beach line of Lake Erie. We can sit on the flybridge or the sundeck and enjoy the view of the lake and it's gorgeous sunsets. We walk the beach searching for sea glass and enjoy swimming in the 77 degree water.
One of our favorite things is lying in bed in our aft stateroom and watching the lightning storms over the lake. We love our Pacemaker and would suggest this option to others.

Congratulations on your purchase, and also on restoring a 1970 Pacemaker houseboat. Those 1970 era Pacemakers had very similar styling to the Chris-Craft Aqua Homes, the Holiday Mansions, and the early Gibson houseboats.
It sounds like you have a great setup, swimming in 77 deg water, searching for sea glass, and watching the lightning storms over the lake. I am sure that you sleep like "babies"... :)
Lastly, hopefully some of our readers and visitors will share and post comments about their Lake Erie houseboat experiences.

Thanks again for sharing, IAN from all-about-houseboats
