Kayakers Dream Houseboat - mother ship for kayaking
A kayakers dream houseboat would be a perfect mother ship for kayaking. I'm a die hard kayaker. Here in Michigan I make a point to start my season as soon as the ice thaws and continue paddling until things freeze over again.
My dream houseboat would be a kayak "mother ship" for extended expeditions and possibly a winter home somewhere tropical for once I retire. The mother ship would be in the 40 foot range with a catamaran hull and minimal power for slow motoring with maximun fuel efficiency.
On the main lever forward is a large living room space with an inside helm and a couple couches. Aft is a galley on one side and a dinette opposite. Aft again is the walk thru head with shower toilet, sink and shower.
Still aft is the statefroom with a huge raised double kingsized bed running the full width of the boat. Back forward in the living space there would be steps to the large upper deck all canopied over for shade.
Up there, there would be another helm station with a full width bench with a back rest that would tilt so it could face fore or aft.
There would also be a table and chairs, a gas grille and lots of shaded open lounge space where kayaks could be stowed with when we're not paddling. Way aft there'd be setup to a kayak launch off the stern.
Here's my wish list, John Smolenski.
Reply - AnswerWell John, I can see that you have spent some time planning the layout of your dream houseboat.
I can understand you when you say that a "mother ship" is the ideal boat for kayakers. Nothing better than good friends, good food, and a sunset after a long day paddling.
Lastly, hopefully some of our readers and visitors will share and post comments about their dream houseboat or their next boats wish list.
Feel free to use the "Click here to post comments." link found near the bottom of this page.
Thanks again for sharing, IAN from all-about-houseboats
