Houseboat Docking Control - SideShift Stern & Bow Thrusters
When it comes to houseboat docking control in windy or adverse conditions, does anyone have any experience with Sideshift stern thrusters? I have a 15' x 63' Lakeview with a single 6 cylinder Merccruiser and am interested in adding stern thrusters for added control in docking.
Thanks from Stan in Tennessee.
Reply - AnswerWell Stan, congratulations on your decision to add thrusters on your houseboat for better docking and the ultimate in control.
I have heard only good things about the SideShift line of thrusters, and have seen various boats with them on. Thrusters aren't cheap, yet they add a great level of maneuverability on house boats.
When it comes down to choosing whether to buy a bow or stern thruster, ideally having both is the ultimate in houseboat control. However if you were to choose only one thruster, folks generally choose to have a bow thruster installed as the engine(s) control the stern of the houseboat.
If you've decided on getting a thruster for your houseboat, you can find some
good deals on Sideshift Thrusters for your houseboat here. Lastly, hopefully some of our readers will share and post comments about their SideShift Thruster and houseboat control experiences. Feel free to use the "Click here to post comments." link found near the bottom of this page.
