Houseboat Office Tip - create a monthly expense & activity binder
My office tip is to create a houseboat monthly budget binder, and use it to track monthly expenses and activities. So basically my office tip is to create a portable road trip budget binder to track monthly activities and expenses.
The portable road trip budget binder is an overview of your monthly activities to assist from your remote area. With cellular telephone banking you can pay bills, transfer monies and make a purchase if needed.
With the road trip binder you don't have to leave the camping site and/or disrupt your vacation unless you need more food for the group. Half a day is plenty of time to restock food supplies and do laundy. The rest of the time is spent fun in the sun!
A little background about us, basically here in Northern Ontario Canada we are houseboating with our kids since 2001. Three years ago we decided to renovate our handmade houseboat from 38' to a new 10'x 45' family houseboat. I now have my mini office with the best view of the lake. The houseboat sleeps ten comfortably!
Our two teen boys were raised camping on the water going from one island to another with their friends. In 2003 my sister and her family purchased a houseboat to join us... as well as my parents the following year. Every Sunday we
have a family reunion pickerel & pike fish fry's on the island.
Of course I married an avid fisherman! We live on the lake from May to October long weekend. In the fall we winterize our houseboat and we pull out our fish hut for the next seasonal fun.

Reply - AnswerWell Joanne, it sounds like you are all having a great time houseboating together.
Your tips for having a Monthly Budget Binder is a great idea, since it allows you to have everything in one place, and also allows you to keep track of expenses, activities, or important information.
