Course How To

Houseboat insurance, survey, and moorage etc.

by David
(Seattle)

I'm thinking about buying a homemade custom built houseboat. It looks to be very nice. I need to know the logistics about the houseboat insurance requirements, and if I need to get a marine survey in order to get it insured.

Is it hard to find dockage, slip, or moorage. The custom made homebuilt houseboat is on blocks on his property now. Is it better to buy or rent a slip, and how secure is month to month liveaboard slip.

What legal rights does one have, can they evict. How much time do you have to find new moorage.

Please help with the pro's and cons of houseboat ownership.
