Gibson Houseboat - a 1981 36ft Standard model
When we looked for a used houseboat, the Gibson boats were on our list. With the 36ft Standard model, this boat was a combination of many characteristics that we were looking for:
*reasonably priced
*within my abilities to repair and maintain
*trailer included
*aft cabin with a relatively full size bed
*single engine
*head
*workable galley
*potential (what I saw through my rose-colored glasses)
The single most helpful force to convince me that this was the boat for us was; the chance to use it on slip in a beautiful location for a month before it had to be towed to its new home.
We got to see all the good and bad in that amount of time. The previous owner was a very motivated seller and great guy.
We are really pleased with our selection.

Well Chris, glad you were able to find a houseboat that fit all your requirements.
Gibson's are renowned to be an excellent combination between space, speed, and affordability.
She looks in really good shape and really clean for her age. If you are handy, I am sure that you'll have her running great for a very longtime.
Enjoy your new toy :)
Lastly, hopefully some of our readers and visitors will share and post comments about their Gibson houseboat experiences and tips.
