Bought a Yukon Delta houseboat

A classic Yukon Delta houseboat
The original interior of a Yukon Delta houseboat
A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I decided to look for and buy a trailerable houseboat. Days later we found and bought a 26' Yukon Delta houseboat some in the Los Angeles area, some 6 hr away. It had been sitting a while but was in very good condition.
Before the drive back home I bought 4 new tires, repacked the bearings and checked the electric brakes, brake and tail lights. Took it slow on the first few miles until I felt comfortable towing then maintained 55mph and occasionally when passing slower drivers, increased the speed to 65mph with the trailer tracking well.
Once home I got the motor running and found no leaks after pressure testing the Volvo 280 outdrive then changed lower gear oil.
So the next will be changing the points to electronic, change oil filter, plugs and plug wires and adjusting the valves on the Volvo 130, then I’ll tow it to the Sacramento Delta for a shakedown cruise.
Here are a few pictures of the very original YD.

Hello Seon, congratulations on finding a Yukon Delta in good shape. You know what they say, Plan your Work, and Work your Plan, and you can find some gems out there. But that is where
our Houseboat Buying Guide helps folks really "plan their work, and than work their plan".
Now you will surely have other little things come up, but it is such a pleasure to see older classic houseboats (or other vintage boats for that matter) out there cruising around.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your journey.
Lastly, hopefully some of our readers and visitors will share and post comments about their
houseboat related PURCHASE experiences and tips. Feel free to use the "click here to post comments" link found near the bottom of this page.
Thanks again for sharing, IAN from All About Houseboats
